Mr. Ryutaro Kurai (D2) has received the DAAX Good Experience Design Student Award 2025.
The Design Association for Augmented Experience (DAAX) encourages developers who conduct research and development on effective new experience designs for products, spaces, services, and information utilizing the Metaverse and XR. Its mission is to widely introduce “good experience designs”—where experiences are validated and their effects are clearly explained—to society.
This award’s evaluation criteria focus on the novelty of the experience and the verification of its effects from a user perspective, with winners selected by DAAX regular members and the steering committee. Mr. Kurai’s research and development project, “Development of MagicCraft: A System for Generating Animated 3D Objects from Natural Language,” was selected for the 2025 DAAX Good Experience Design Student Award.

“Development of MagicCraft: A System for Generating Animated 3D Objects from Natural Language”
MagicCraft is a system that automatically generates animated 3D objects based on descriptions provided by users in natural language. Conventional 3D modeling requires specialized knowledge and skills, which has been a barrier for general users wanting to participate in content creation within Metaverse and XR spaces. In this research, by utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, we developed an interface that allows users without expertise to intuitively generate animated 3D objects. Results from user evaluation experiments demonstrated that production time was significantly reduced compared to conventional methods, highlighting the potential for diverse users to engage in XR content creation.
Awardee’s voice:
“I am truly honored to receive such a prestigious award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my professors for their guidance and to everyone who participated in the experiments. Through this research, I hope to contribute to creating an environment where more people can participate in content creation within XR spaces. I will use this award as encouragement to further advance my research.”
