- Let’s create an AR app on your smartphone
Summary： Let’s make an AR app that uses a camera to recognize the real environment and process or synthesize images, just like Pokémon GO or SNOW. On the first day, you will learn about the basic development procedure, check the operation of sample programs, and come up with ideas. On the second day, you will be able to try your hand at object recognition, face recognition, gesture input, etc., and improve the system freely according to your interests and skills in consultation with your instructors. On the third day, you will complete the system and make a presentation in front of your instructor and lab members. Try to think of various applications, such as placing virtual vases or furniture in the room, changing the age of the face, or notifying the recognized object by voice.

- Let’s create an activity recognition system using a microcontroller and machine learning
Summary： Computers and sensors are becoming smaller and smaller, and many systems are being introduced into our daily lives to support people. In these systems, data on people’s behavior is acquired from sensors, and the computer analyzes the data. In this practical training, you will experience the flow of “sensing → action recognition” using a microcontroller (M5Stack) and sensors (accelerometer, gyro sensor, etc.). You will be challenged to start from coming up with an idea of what kind of behavior to recognize using what kind of method (machine learning, etc.) and to implement it. The required devices will be sent to you before the seminar and sent back to NAIST after the seminar, if you join online.
